Grade:    Moderate to Strenuous/High Alpine passes

Himalayan sights: Kangchenjunga all, Jugal Himal & Makalu Himal etc…

The Kanchanjunga massif with its myriad glacier systems, high pass crossings and vast untracked foothills offers the opportunity for almost endless exploration. This trek is best in early autumn or late spring. We ascend from Hille through terraced fields and through rhododendron forest to the high Milke Danda ridge (4500m). There are fine views of four of the world’s highest peaks Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m) and Kanchanjunga (8537m). From Taplejung village our route takes us up and over the 3484m pass at Lashi tan to remarkable view point Khumbakarna and Kabru (7310m) tower over us just short distance away across the Yalung glacier. The Peaks of the Kanchanjunga massif are our constant companion as we cross several passes to Gunsa village and descend the valley and take a west ward trail back to Taplejung and fly to Kathmandu.
